BOEING 737 LEADING EDGE DESK LAMP

AIRCRAFT PART: BOEING 737 LEADING EDGE

The iconic curves and sharp edges of the leading edge slat radiate Art Deco design. Inspired by this beautiful period, we transform a whole leading edge slat into a number of smaller parts. Each piece is then sanded, polished and powder coated before being married with a weathered brass column and a hand-built iron base to create an intriguing desk or table lamp.

MADE FROM PLANE

After removing the leading edge from the Boeing 737 we take it to our workshop on an old farm in Wiltshire, UK. There we get to work cutting the each length into 5 or 6 sections. Then we sand, polish and powder coat each section.

CURVES AND BENDS

In the mean time, we go about bending and forming the brass stands. The base is made from steel and goes through an antiquating process. Bespoke brass fittings and fixtures are CNC milled.

POLISH AND SHINE

Each lamp has over 20 individual components, once they are all finished, we assemble it together, fit the electrics and test.
